swan veterinary practice

Swan Veterinary Practice in Aberdeen is a newly expanded Independent Veterinary Practice and we are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to fill a Full-Time position.

Swan Vets was established in the area in 1993 and is a family run business. We are a busy first opinion, companion animal practice and our main surgery is based in Dyce with our branch surgery in Aberdeen. Our team of highly experienced and dedicated staff work to provide a wonderful service to a very loyal client base. At present our team consists of 2 Receptionists; 2 VCA / receptionists; 1 Animal Care Assistant; 5 RVNs and 4 Vets.

Our main branch in Dyce is a large and spacious building with 2 consulting rooms, dirty ops and sterile operating facilities as well as separate accommodation for cats, dogs and small mammals and the opportunity for isolation. We have extensive laboratory equipment, including an Imagyst that allows for a lot of in-house analysis of samples. We have a digital x-ray machine and an Ultrasonic scanner and dental machine.

All Vets work between both our main practice and the Branch surgery and, although supported by our RVNs and support staff any applicant should be confident enough to work as the sole Vet. We work a 40-hour week over 4 days with a day off during the week. Saturdays are additional hours from 8.30 – 1pm and are on a rota basis of 1:5. There is no additional, regular Out of Hours work.

Pay:
We pay hourly for the hours performed each week and rate of pay ranges from £24/hr to £28/hr ( equating to £49,992 – £58,240 per annum) depending on clinical and surgical experience. Pension contributions are paid on top of this amount.
Holidays:
We provide 20 days holiday and have 8 bank holidays, 4 of which can be taken at a mutually convenient time and 4 which are held for Christmas and New Year Closures. An additional day per year of service up to 5 days is also accrued.

CPD:
We encourage CPD and support through a yearly budget of £500 and 4 paid days and we have a practice subscription to The Webinar Vet.

From the vets:
Gemma:
“I have worked for Swan Vets for nearly 10 years. I love the clinical freedom and how approachable the senior management are to hear ideas as well as the sense of belonging I have there. The entire Team is incredible, and I couldn’t imagine working anywhere else.”
Robyn:
“During my time at Swan Vets I have loved being able to have a healthy balance of operating and consulting days with the support of a lovely and knowledgeable team. The freedom in clinical decision making is refreshing and no two days are ever the same!”
